Garden Conifers
A large group of mostly evergreen trees which range in height, from the very small dwarf rockery varieties, fantastic ground cover, which are just a few centimetres high, to trees of 30m or more.
Ornamental conifers vary widely in foliage and cone type and colour. There’s cool blues, lime greens, dark emerald greens through to warm golds and rich Autumn bronzes.
These shrubs will grow in most moist but well-drained soils. Their uses include fast growing or slow growing hedging, ground cover and specimens. Dwarf types are wonderful low-maintenance additions to mixed borders, and areas where low-maintenance or watering is required.
Maintenance
Trimming, if needed, is best done in June and July. Trimming and shaping of conifers when young is best as not varieties will respond well to hard pruning into old wood.
